Christmas: a poem

T’was a night in December, a night to remember,

A census the King had declared.

“to the place you were born!” so from their homes they were torn,

the wrath of the king, to be spared.

-

“No room at the inn!” People crowded the streets

seeking a place to stay.

But gone almost un-seen, for it was “far too unclean”

Was a stable that smelled of old hay.

-

Under a star shining brighter, a husband held tighter,

The hand of his wife in pain.

The time was come, God had a son,

Emmanuel – God with us named.

-

To Him was giv’n the one key to heav’n

The Prophecy to fulfill

in mercy and love, God sent from above

His Son to do of His will.

-

Fully human and fully God,

the Son of Man – without sin.

His work rejected, His words dis-respected

By even the most pious of men.

-

T’was a night in December, a night to remember,

The voices of angels were heard.

The shepherds informed, by the angels were warned

Of Christ the Savior’s birth.

-

Have a blessed Christmas!! :)

The Armour of God: Shield of Faith

The moment we wake

and our feet touch the floor.

there are battles ahead

But our Armour we ignore.

There are “better things” after all

to do with our time

So we go on our way

Leaving our Armour behind.

It calls to us

From our old dusty shelves

To protect us and save us

From attacks against ourselves.

How can we forget

to bring our shield and sword

When arming is as  easy

as receiving His Word?

Armor

Armor

So, we’ve all heard the phrase “Armor of God” at least a few times before… and most of us  know where we get the phrase…

Ephesians 6:10-18

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

But do we really know HOW to get it, or… WHY we should get it? is it really important to us? REALLY??

The first step to properly utilizing the Armour of God, is the realization of its necessity. 1st off, we need to recognize that we ARE in a battle. A spiritual battle:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

In 1st Peter 5:8, we are warned to: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

We are in a warzone… continually. Whether you like, or accept the fact or not. We MUST remain vigilant.

So now that we see that 1st, God has called us to remain vigilant, and that Satan is our adversary and that our Armour is what will keep us spiritually alive… another question must be asked: How do we put on the Armour of God?? *drum roll!*

The Bible

The Bible

You probably noticed that I highlighted the Shield of Faith. This is because it is the most important (as stated in the above passage). Faith is what keeps Satan’s ever-so-persistent attacks from succeeding.

“well then, where do we get Faith?”

Romans 10:17 “So then Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by THE WORD OF GOD.”

Sharp Sword

"Sharper than any two-edged sword..."

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The Secret

Dear readers,

I’m deeply, deeply sorry for neglecting you all for so very long, I hope the neglect doesn’t continue, but life gets busier for me, each week. :-( Prayers as always, are much appreciated! :)

I wrote this poem yesterday, and I thought maybe you guys would enjoy it! :D I call it *cue ominous music*

THE SECRET

An armies fate rests upon me
To make it all the way
A great secret, I be.

A long way to go,
Beyond the sea
Across yon mountains
My bearer takes me.

The voyage is scary
But it is not the worst
The bearer must be wary
He must keep me well rehearsed

For not on paper
this message is carried
But in the bearer’s mind
I am well buried.

If caught or captured
’tis the sum of all fears
For never must these orders
fall on enemy ears.

What orders, you ask,
I cannot tell.
Why I cannot?
You know full well!

For the love of my country
I remain unknown,
So when I find my target
I have yet to be shown.

With all haste I travel
Through hard weather and terrain.
Let us hope without sleep
My bearer remains sane!

Epic Summer Poem…

Hey everyone! Today i’m posting yet another poem from the ever-attempting-to-be-creative-brain of Ben Chambers. ;) I hope you enjoy it!

Summer’s almost here

Although it’s not very cool

A season full of cheer

For many, there is no school.

But I am one of those

Who really doesn’t know

How long his school season will go

But wishes he could say “fo sho!”

If at first, none of this makes  sense

Be sure it’s not because you are dense

But rather my style is lacking immense

Maturity and knowledge, and since

Writer’s block is threatening,

My writing will progress

Further into craziness

And at last I must confess:

That  the purpose of this poem

Was only to get more views

And comments from his friends

So please comment… if you choose!

Poem…

Hello all! In order to somewhat maintain whatever interest remains in my blog, i have composed a poem:

He knows he should be in bed,
But writes this poem instead.

He doesn’t know why,
But he feels he must try.

To update his blog,
And defeat the smog.

And save what little interest
He may have obtained.
And then get some rest
Because he is drained.

“Drained of what?”
One might inquire
Of all my sanity
And my ability to inspire

Myself into doing
The things that I ought,
And keep myself from saying,
Things which are naught.

So here I sit
Am I doing the right thing?
Like trying to hit
The right key when I sing.

The conclusion is simple,
Wait and see.
For tomorrows a new day,
With a saner me.

Hope it takes you as little time to understand it as it took me to write it! ;-P
